Delta Cancel Or Change Flight Without Paying A Fee?

Please check below Delta’s Basic Economy Changeability Waiver for customers with impending Basic Economy travel originating outside of North America to see if you are eligible to make modifications to your upcoming flight without incurring a change fee.

As Of January 12, 2022, This Information:

Delta Airlines understand that your plans may change, so when you book a Main Cabin or higher on flights departing from North America, you can relax knowing that there will be no change fees.

Delta understands that you may need to cancel your trip and rebook it at a later time. Make sure that tickets are modified or canceled before departure or else they will lose their value in full. Fortunately, when you book tickets in the Main Cabin or higher, you will not be charged a cancellation fee and your remaining value will be converted into a credit that you can use to spend before your ticket expires (typically one year from the date of purchase). Already have an eCredit and want to make a reservation? To book future travel, go to delta.com/redeem. Visit the how-to guide for instructions on how to cancel or change your flight.

Conclusion:

Most domestic U.S. airlines will provide you with two options for making changes to your bookings well in advance: either you can do it yourself online or you can call in and speak with a customer care representative. Watch out for additional service fees that may be slapped onto your fare, on top of any usual change fees, if you contact a customer care agent to help you with your booking. If you made a mistake and realized it within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket, or if you decided you wanted to extend your stay within that 24-hour timeframe, you’re in luck: All airlines must enable no-fee modifications within 24 hours of your ticket purchase, according to the United States Department of Transportation (DOT).
